Molly He, Ph.D. is a Senior Director of Scientific Research at Illumina, responsible for Illumina’s global protein reagent innovation and improvements. By leveraging the state of art protein engineering technologies and developing new tools, Molly’s organization has enabled faster, longer, cheaper and better sequencing. In addition, Molly is also interested in using Illumina’s sequencing platform as a HTP tool to understand biological problems and to develop new approaches to help other industries including Synthetic Biology and Pharma.
Before Illumina, Molly was a manager at Pacific Biosciences responsible for protein reagent development for their single molecular real time sequencing chemistry. Prior to Pacific Biosciences, she spent 10 years in pharmaceutical industry focusing on structural based design of antibody and small molecule drugs targeting cancer and immune diseases.
Molly received her postdoc training in Structural Biology with Dr. Brian Matthews, and holds a Ph.D. from UCLA in protein biophysics. She has published more than twenty articles in high profile journals including Science and Nature. She also holds more than twenty patent applications and issued patents in the field of next generation sequencing and personalized medicine.
